What's New — Why This Matters
Previously, accessing your analytics dashboards required two separate logins — one for the Fr8Labs client portal and another for Metabase. Creating or modifying dashboards was not possible on your own; every new report required a request to the Fr8Labs team, which could take days.
The new Analytics Portal changes this:
Before | Now |
|---|---|
Separate Metabase login required | Single sign-on — dashboards inside your existing portal |
Needed Fr8Labs to create/modify dashboards | Self-service — create your own dashboards with AI assistance |
No control over who sees what | Admin controls — assign dashboard categories per team member |
One-size-fits-all access | Role-based tiers — Operations, Finance, Managerial |
Manual setup per tenant | Automatic provisioning — dashboards created on first visit |
Open analytics from FMS
In FMS, open Dashboard from the left sidebar, then choose Editor to open the Dashboard Editor. In the verified demo configuration, the Dashboard page includes My Stats, Group, Dashboards, Reports, Milestone Dashboards, and Editor. Available sections depend on your account and company configuration.

DEMO LOGISTICS, company #18, Admin DEMO; captured 21 September 2026. Demo figures are illustrative.
My Stats includes Sales, Operations, and Finance sections. The Viewing as Sales/Operations control changes which of your jobs are counted; it does not grant wider access. The Revenue control distinguishes Job costing (job charge sell/buy amounts, including uninvoiced charges) from Invoiced only (finalised invoices, excluding drafts and cancelled invoices). Unbilled remains based on job costing. Check Data as of before interpreting the figures.
From Editor, choose Ask AI. The assistant offers Create a dashboard, Create a report, Ask about a dashboard, and Ask about a report. See the AI editor guide for reviewing the proposed query and result.
This FMS entry route and these controls were checked in DEMO LOGISTICS, company #18, as Admin DEMO on 21 September 2026. First-time provisioning and restricted-user screens below were not part of that check.

What is the Analytics Portal?
The Analytics Portal gives you direct access to your company's operational and financial dashboards — all within the client portal you already use, with no separate login needed. Dashboards are pre-built by Fr8Labs and automatically configured for your company.
Common dashboard categories include Operations, Finance, and Managerial. The current editor also has All, General, and Reports filters. The tabs and counts depend on the content and access available in your company:
Category | What's Inside | Who Should See It |
|---|---|---|
Operations | Shipment tracking, DO status, container movements, volume trends | Operations team, CS team |
Finance | Revenue reports, invoice aging, cost analysis, margin reports | Finance team, management |
Managerial | KPI dashboards, customer performance, trend analysis | Management, directors |
First-Time Setup (Admins)
For company admins: Initial setup and user access are separate. After company setup, review each team member's permissions and assigned categories.
Step 1: Log in to the Client Portal
Log in with your admin account at your company's Fr8Labs portal URL. You must be the account admin (the first person to access analytics triggers the automatic setup).

Login from user who does not have access

Step 2: Visit the Analytics Page
Navigate to Analytics from the main portal menu. On your first visit, the system will automatically:
Create your company's dashboard folder in Metabase
Clone the default dashboard templates for Operations, Finance, and Managerial categories
Configure all dashboards with your company's data filter
You'll see a progress screen:
Wait for setup to finish before opening a dashboard. If setup does not complete, contact Fr8Labs support rather than assuming an empty page means there is no data.
Step 3: Verify Your Dashboards
After setup, you should see dashboard cards organized by category tabs:
Each card shows:
Dashboard name
Category badge (Operations, Finance, or Managerial)
Collection name
Click to open the embedded dashboard
Managing Team Access
As an admin, you control which team members can see dashboards and which categories they can access.
Option A: From the Dashboard Editor
Go to Analytics and open the Editor tab (or use the SDK editor link)
Click the Users tab in the top-right of the tab bar
You'll see a table of all team members with:
Dashboards toggle — turns dashboard access on/off for each user
Category checkboxes — Operations, Finance, Managerial

Users Tab - Dashboard Permissions
Toggle access and check the categories you want each user to see
Click Save next to the user's row
Option B: From Team Access Settings
Go to Team Access in the client portal sidebar
Find the team member and click to edit their permissions
Toggle Dashboards to ON
Select the dashboard categories under Dashboard Categories
Save changes
Default Access for New Users
Check each new team member's dashboard access and assigned categories in your company's access settings. Do not assume that a new account has the categories or editing permission it needs. To remove dashboard access, turn its Dashboards setting off.
What Team Members See
If you have access
You'll see the dashboard grid filtered to your assigned categories. For example, if your admin assigned you Operations and Finance, you'll see dashboards from both categories but not Managerial.
Click any dashboard card to open it. Dashboards are interactive — you can:
Use date filters and dropdown filters
Hover over charts for details
View data tables
If you don't have access yet
You'll see one of these screens depending on your situation:
"Dashboard Access Required" Your admin hasn't enabled dashboard access for your account yet. The screen tells you exactly what to ask your admin to do.
"No Dashboard Categories Assigned" You have dashboard access but no categories assigned. Your admin needs to assign at least one category (Operations, Finance, or Managerial).
"Dashboards Not Set Up Yet" Your company's dashboards haven't been created yet. An admin needs to visit the Analytics page first to trigger the automatic setup.
The Dashboard Editor
The Dashboard Editor requires editing access. Users with that access can:
Browse dashboards and reports available to your account
Preview dashboard cards with live data
Use AI chat to modify SQL queries and create new dashboards
Manage team access via the Users tab, where your administrator permissions allow it
Create new dashboards from templates or AI prompts
Accessing the Editor
From FMS: Open Dashboard → Editor.
From the client portal: Open Analytics and select Editor where available.
From SDK embed: Use the editor link provided by your integration
AI Chat Assistant
The built-in AI assistant helps you work with your dashboards:
Ask questions about your data in plain English
Request changes to existing dashboard cards
Create new reports and visualizations
The AI always scopes queries to your company's data — it cannot access other tenants

AI Chat Panel
Session and Security
Session Expiry
If your session expires, follow the sign-in prompt before continuing. Session duration depends on the applicable authentication configuration.

Session Expired Overlay
Click Sign In Again to sign in. After returning, check that your latest work was saved before continuing.
Data Isolation
All dashboards and queries are automatically filtered to your company's data. You cannot see other companies' information, and the system enforces this at multiple levels:
Dashboard embeds use signed tokens locked to your company
SQL queries include mandatory company filters
The analytics service enforces company scope on queries
FAQ
Q: Can I create my own dashboards? A: Yes! Use the Dashboard Editor's AI chat to describe what you want, and the AI will generate it for you. You can also request custom dashboards from Fr8Labs support.
Q: Can I export dashboard data? A: Use the export or download options available in the current view. Some embedded dashboards offer Download as PDF; table or chart data exports depend on the view and your permissions. If the option you need is absent, ask your administrator.
Q: I can see dashboards but some are empty or show errors. A: This usually means the dashboard was recently created and hasn't been populated with data yet, or there's a date range filter set incorrectly. Try adjusting the date filter. If the problem persists, contact your admin or Fr8Labs support.
Q: I'm an admin but I don't see the Editor tab. A: The Editor requires the "editor" permission level for dashboards. Contact Fr8Labs support to enable it for your account.
Q: How do I get access to another dashboard category? A: Ask your company admin to review your assigned categories. Adding a dashboard from the Marketplace and granting a user category access are separate actions.
