Link Rates to Job Estimation

Overview

Linking a Rate Set to a Job Estimation connects charge items to your centralised rate data. Once linked, fields such as charge basis and minimum quantity are automatically populated from the rate configuration. Fields like UoM, Qty, and Unit Price become locked, as pricing is managed centrally through Rate Management.

There are three ways to link rates in a Job Estimation.

Link Rates at Job Level

  1. In the shipment details page, go to the Job Estimation tab and open the Charge Details section.

  1. Click Link Rates on the right side of the section.

  1. A modal will appear showing all active Rate Sets, pre-filtered by shipment type, direction, origin, destination, and customer.

Toggle View All Rate Sets in the top-right of the modal to see Rate Sets across all shipment types and routings.

  1. Click Expand on a Rate Set to preview its details.

  1. Select the Rate Set(s) you want to link using the checkbox.

  1. Click Link Rates.

The selected rates are linked to the Job Estimation, preserving the Pricing Group structure from the Rate Set. Each charge group displays the linked rate with options to view the rate details or unlink it. Each charge item shows a linked rate icon.

Link Rates from a Charge Group

  1. Inside the Charge Details section, click Link Rates within a specific charge group.

  1. A modal will appear showing all active Rate Sets, pre-filtered by shipment type, direction, origin, destination, and customer.

Toggle View All Rate Sets to see Rate Sets across all shipment types and routings.

  1. Click Expand on a Rate Set to preview its details.

  1. Select the Rate Set(s) using the checkbox.

  1. Click Link Rates.

All charge items from the selected Rate Set are merged into the current charge group, regardless of their original Pricing Group. The charge group header displays the linked rate information with options to view or unlink.

Link Rates from a Charge Item

  1. Inside a charge group, select a Charge Code on the charge item row.

  1. If a matching rate exists for that charge code, a pop-up appears showing the related rate information, filtered by customer, origin, destination, shipment type, direction, and shipment mode.

  1. Select the rate to link.

  2. Click Link Rate.

A linked rate icon appears on the charge code. The charge group header also displays the linked rate information after the page is refreshed.

If no rate is available for the selected charge code, the charge item continues to use manual input as normal.

Get Updated Rates

When rates in Rate Management are updated, you can pull the latest changes into an already-linked Job Estimation.

  1. In the Charge Details section, click the ∨ dropdown arrow next to the Link Rates button.

  1. Select Get Updated Rates.

  2. A confirmation dialog will explain that this action may update charge items, charge basis, quantity, and unit price based on the latest rate configuration.

  1. Click Get Updated Rates to confirm.

The rates are automatically refreshed based on the latest Rate Management data.

Unlink Rates

Unlink a Rate Set (from Charge Group)

  1. In the charge group header, click the linked rate information area. A dropdown menu will appear — select Unlink Rate.

  1. Confirm the action in the dialog that appears.

  2. Click Unlink Rate.

After unlinking, the rate information is removed from the charge group header and the linked rate icons are cleared from all charge items. UoM and Unit Price become editable again — however, Qty remains locked as it still follows the selected Charge Basis.

If you unlink a Rate Set and then re-link the same Rate Set, the system reuses the existing charge group and charge items rather than generating new ones.

Unlink a Rate (from Charge Item)

  1. Click the linked rate icon on the charge item.

  1. Select Unlink Rate from the options that appear.

  1. Confirm the action.

After unlinking, the linked rate icon is removed from the charge item. The rate information in the charge group header is also hidden after the page is refreshed.
