Sales Territories
Overview
The Territory feature in Fr8Labs CRM helps you organize your sales, leads, and customers by geographical regions or business segments.
Territories form the foundation for sales reporting, pipeline visibility, and performance tracking across teams and countries — especially useful for freight forwarders managing multi-branch or cross-border operations.
You can use territories to:
Track leads, deals, and revenue by region (e.g., Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines)
Assign salespeople or branches to specific zones
Structure performance dashboards by sales area or market
Align reporting with your company’s internal branch or profit center structure
How It Works
Each Territory is part of a hierarchy — for example, Asia → Southeast Asia → Singapore.
This hierarchy lets management view reports at any level (continent, country, city) and automatically includes all sub-territories beneath it.
When you assign a lead, contact, organization, or deal to a territory, that record automatically contributes to the sales performance metrics of that region and its parent territories.
Territory Hierarchy Example
World
│
├── Asia
│ ├── Southeast Asia
│ │ ├── Singapore
│ │ ├── Malaysia
│ │ └── Indonesia
│ └── East Asia
│ ├── China
│ └── Japan
└── Europe
├── United Kingdom
└── GermanyThis structure enables flexible roll-up reporting. For instance, revenue from Singapore will automatically appear under Southeast Asia and Asia totals.

Assigning Territories to CRM Records
Once your territory structure is set up, you can assign territories to the following:
Leads
→ Helps track where your leads are coming from.
Contacts & Organisations
→ Defines the primary operating region of the customer.
Deals (Opportunities)
→ Enables pipeline and revenue reporting by region.
To assign:
Open any Lead, Deal, or Organisation record.
Locate the Territory field under the Details or Address section.
Select the appropriate territory from the list.
Save your changes.
Territory Reports & Insights
Territories are integrated across CRM reports and dashboards:
Report | What It Shows |
|---|---|
Sales by Territory | Total revenue, deal count, and win rate by territory. |
Leads by Territory | Distribution of new leads by region. |
Pipeline Overview | Breakdown of open deals per territory, useful for forecasting. |
Customer Retention by Territory | Measures customer engagement and repeat business by region. |
These reports can be filtered or grouped by Territory, allowing managers to identify strong and weak-performing markets quickly.
Territories can also represent business segments or industries instead of physical regions if your company prefers that structure.
Examples
Example 1: Branch-Based Territories
Singapore HQ manages local accounts under “Singapore”
Malaysia branch handles “Klang Valley” and “Penang”
Regional VP monitors performance across “Southeast Asia”
Example 2: Vertical-Based Territories
“E-commerce Clients”
“Pharmaceutical Accounts”
“Heavy Equipment & Project Cargo”
Best Practices & Notes
Plan your hierarchy before creating territories. This prevents duplicate or disorganized entries.
Use parent groups (e.g., Asia-Pacific) for reporting, and child territories (e.g., Singapore, Malaysia) for daily data entry.
Assign each lead or customer to one primary territory for clear ownership.
Avoid using “World” for individual assignments; it should remain the top-level parent only.
Territories are visible to users based on their role permissions — ensuring each salesperson only sees relevant records.
FAQ
Q: Can a customer belong to multiple territories?
No. Each record should have one primary territory for accurate reporting, though you can track additional regions via custom fields if needed.
Q: Can I rename a territory after creation?
Yes. You can rename a territory if needed; reports and linked records will automatically update.
Q: How do I deactivate an old or merged territory?
Mark it as Disabled or delete it if it has no linked transactions. Always reassign customers before deletion.
