Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra security step when you log in. After entering your email and password, you will need to confirm your identity using one of the methods you set up (Authenticator App, Email, or Backup Code).

If enrollment is required at your next login

Your administrator can require you to enroll in 2FA the next time you sign in. Follow the enrollment prompt, complete the chosen verification method, and store the backup codes securely. This is separate from a requirement to change your password, so your next login may require both steps.

Administrators configure these requirements through the user's Set Password action. See User Management.

Setup 2FA with Authenticator App

  1. Click your Profile (top-right corner) → select Password. System redirects to the Profile page, Security tab.

  2. In the Authenticator App section, click Enable.

  3. Follow the setup pop-up:

Step 1: Install an Authenticator App on your phone (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy) or use a browser plugin. Step 2: Scan the QR code (or enter the setup key manually).

Step 3: Enter the 6-digit verification code from the Authenticator App into Fr8Labs.

  4. Click Enable 2FA.

  5. Backup Codes will be displayed.

  6. Click Download or Copy to save them securely.

  7. You can generate new codes anytime using Generate New Backup Code.

  8. Once enabled, the button changes to Disable and a badge shows “Enabled”.

  7. Options: Download, Copy, Generate New Backup Codes, or later View them again.

  8. Once enabled, the button changes to Disable and a badge shows “Enabled”.

Login using 2FA (Email)

  1. Log in with your email and password.

  2. If multiple 2FA methods are enabled, click Use Other Verification Method → select Email.

  3. Check your email for the OTP.

    • If not received, click Re-send Code.

Login using Backup Codes

Use this if you cannot access your Authenticator App or Email.

  1. Log in with your email and password.

  2. On the 2FA screen, click Use a Backup Code.

  3. Open the backup code file you saved earlier.

  4. Copy one unused backup code, paste it into the verification field, and click Continue.

  5. If correct, you will be logged in successfully.

Disabling 2FA

You may disable 2FA if needed.

  • Authenticator App:

    1. In the Security tab, click Disable under Authenticator App.

    2. Enter your password and click Disable 2FA.

    3. The Authenticator App method is disabled.

  • Email:

    1. In the Security tab, click Disable under Email.

    2. Enter your password and click Disable 2FA.

    3. The Email method is disabled.

Pro Tip: Always keep your backup codes in a safe place. They are your fallback if you lose access to your Authenticator App or Email.
