Using Charge Basis Without Rate Management

Overview

Charge Basis can be applied directly in a Quotation, Job Estimation, or Invoice without needing to link a Rate Set from Rate Management. When a Charge Basis is selected on a charge item, the system automatically populates the Qty value — removing the need for manual entry.

Apply a Charge Basis in a Quotation

The steps below use the Quotation as an example. The same process applies to Job Estimations and Invoices.

  1. Go to the Quote to Customer tab in the Quotation.

  2. Navigate to the Charge Details section.

  3. Add a new Charge Item.


  1. Select a Charge Basis from the dropdown on the charge item row.


Once a Charge Basis is selected:

  • Qty is automatically populated and locked — it is calculated based on the Charge Basis configuration.

  • UoM is automatically populated but can still be changed manually if needed.


This approach is useful when you want the benefit of automatic Qty calculation without linking to a centralised Rate Set.
